Vaccination and documentation depend on individual assessment.
Bring your travel dates and any previous vaccination certificate.
Which vaccinations do I need for Hajj or Umrah?
Your pilgrimage, arrival date, route and health history all matter. Hajj and Umrah have separate Saudi health requirements, which can change between seasons. We can discuss the guidance relevant to your journey rather than assume every pilgrim needs the same plan.
Meningitis ACWY is a key requirement. UK government pilgrimage advice says travellers need valid ACWY vaccination documentation, with vaccination at least 10 days before arrival for Hajj or Umrah.
Check the latest GOV.UK pilgrimage advice alongside the Saudi Ministry of Health requirements for your season.
Meningitis ACWY
This vaccine covers meningococcal groups A, C, W and Y. Bring your existing record so the team can check the vaccine type and date before discussing whether another vaccination is needed.
Additional requirements
Polio or yellow fever requirements can depend on the countries on your route. COVID-19 rules may depend on the pilgrimage season and risk group. Tell us about every stop and any relevant health conditions.
Sources checked: 29 October 2026. Published Saudi guidance currently includes the 1447H (2026) season. Do not assume these rules remain unchanged for a 2027 departure.
When should I book, and is my certificate still valid?
Arrange a travel-health consultation ideally four to six weeks before departure. That gives you time to check records, discuss additional vaccines and resolve documentation questions. If you are travelling sooner, call the branch with your arrival date before booking.
The 10-day window
A last-minute appointment does not remove the minimum vaccination-to-arrival interval. If you are inside that window, ask for advice; we cannot guarantee that new vaccination will meet entry requirements for your planned arrival.
Bring your previous certificate
Under the published 2026 rules, an accepted conjugate ACWY vaccination can count for five years; a polysaccharide vaccination for three. If the type is missing, a three-year validity is applied. Check the certificate against the rules for your trip.
Ask the clinic to confirm appointment availability, vaccine suitability, documentation and current fees. You can also view our vaccination price list. Contact the branch for current certificate arrangements and vaccine availability.
Travel health beyond the certificate
Large crowds, walking and hot weather can make pilgrimage physically demanding. Discuss existing conditions with your usual healthcare professional before travelling, especially if your health has recently changed.
- Routine vaccinations: check your vaccination history, including MMR and diphtheria, tetanus and polio.
- Other protection: ask whether flu, hepatitis B or other travel vaccines are appropriate for you. These are individual recommendations, separate from entry rules.
- Practical preparation: plan for hydration, food and water hygiene, comfortable footwear and suitable travel insurance.
- Medicines: bring a current medicines list and discuss supplies for your journey with your usual prescriber.
For more preparation, explore our travellers’ diarrhoea advice and travel vaccination services. If you wish to discuss period delay, arrange that conversation well before travel; treatment is subject to suitability.
Tell us if you are booking for a child, are pregnant or have a weakened immune system. Contact the branch before making a family booking so the team can advise on appointment arrangements.
Hajj and Umrah vaccination FAQs
Do I need meningitis ACWY vaccination for Umrah?
It is a central part of the published Saudi Umrah vaccination requirements. UK government guidance advises valid ACWY vaccination documentation at least 10 days before arrival. Check the latest Saudi requirements for your arrival date, and bring your vaccination record to your appointment.
Do I need another vaccine if I travelled last year?
Not necessarily. The vaccine type, date, certificate details and rules for your next journey all need checking. Bring the original certificate rather than booking a repeat dose solely because you are travelling again.
Are Hajj and Umrah requirements identical?
Do not assume they are. Separate documents are issued, and requirements can change between seasons. Your route, health circumstances and type of pilgrimage should be discussed at your consultation.
Can I book at either pharmacy?
Yes. Use the Hampstead or Kilburn booking button below, or call your preferred branch to confirm availability and appointment arrangements. Bring your travel dates and previous vaccination records.
What should I bring?
Bring your passport or identity details used for travel, arrival date, full itinerary, previous vaccination certificates and a list of medicines, allergies and relevant health conditions.
Can you guarantee my visa or entry?
No. The clinic can discuss vaccination and documentation. Entry decisions, permits and visas are the responsibility of the relevant authorities; verify their current requirements before travel.
